Maya Project for 2P96

After working for a few weeks with the Maya 3D modeling and animation program and finishing the lessons in the book that introduce you to most of the important tools and setting options, I'm pretty confident on moving onto animating the character I designed so far. The program is very touchy and linear, and I found myself deleting things and starting over almost the entire first few weeks. Here is the first render, it was right after I finished assigning colours and textures to the character....

After I finished all the texturing, I decided to play around with lighting and add a little bit of a backdrop to put him on for the in class presentation so I could show people a bit more definition around him rather than the infinite black space. I animated the heart using key frames and scale mutation so it beats in 2 ways...to make it more human like. I can't really say what my character would be named or what exactly brought me upon the structure, but I enjoy it and think it's a good space to work off of. Sooner or later I will have the quicktime render up so you can see the beating heart but for now here is the final render screenshot with the backdrop and added lighting....

So long for now!
